HOW IT WORKS

ASI’s breakthrough Associate System technology is redefining the way humans and machines interact.  Harnessing the intelligence of world-class experts, Associates enable people with limited expertise to tap a vast body of knowledge and quickly deliver superior performance in complex situations.

Associate Systems are built on our PreAct® Software. PreAct combines powerful components to provide the benefits that an Associate delivers to its user(s):

PreAct® Software Components

Your Knowledge + PreAct Cognitive Engine = Associate Systems tailored to your requirements

  • Symbolic Reasoning that minimizes code requirements
  • Structured Knowledge Base that harnesses the knowledge of experts in a specific domain, company, or organization to provide" Integrated IntelligenceTM".
  • Cognitive Engines that execute actions based on the knowledge
  • Message-based Application Programming Interface (API)

Highly Adaptable Solutions Developed With Amazing Speed
Leveraging the power of PreAct, developers create highly scalable applications in record time. You can easily modify the applications as your needs evolve. You simply change the knowledge bases – not the underlying architecture. The results are extraordinary!

  • 5-10X faster development times for knowledge-intensive applications
  • Adaptable applications that can be easily modified as your needs change

Associate Systems with Powerful Capabilities
ASI specifically designed its cognitive engine so that an Associate can work (analyze, plan and act) in concert with one or more users to perform complex tasks. An Associate System has the power to:

  • Act autonomously or under human operator control
  • Execute only those tasks it is authorized to perform
  • Independently analyze a situation and determine alternate courses of action
  • Propose options to the human operators for approval
  • Track activity, detect potential conflicts and resolve potential error situations
  • Collaborate to execute multiple simultaneous courses of action with human operators, with execution responsibilities shifting dynamically between the Associate and the operator

Underlying Knowledge Engines that Analyze, Plan, and Act
Associate System technology performance is driven by six knowledge engines. They interact with each other to provide the decision cycle (analyze, plan and act) functionality for the system. ASI’s PreAct software leverages causal modeling to enable the Associates’ superior performance.

The knowledge engines include:

  • Activity planner
  • Activity performer
  • Intent interpretation
  • Situation assessment
  • Information management
  • Error analysis

"Integrated Intelligence" Knowledge Structures Capture & Preserve Corporate Expertise
As a knowledge-based intelligent system, the Associate System also incorporates a range of knowledge structures that include:

  • Plan-goal graphs
  • Concept graphs
  • Scripts

These structures enable the Associate to organize, link and apply knowledge

  • From your key experts
  • About the environment (problem space) in which it operates
  • About tasks it performs (potential purposes, its relationship with other Associates and human operators)

Communications Processes
In addition, Associates include communications processes and capabilities that allow real-time information interchange between the Associate agent(s) and the human operator(s).

Embedding Associate System Technology
ASI’s PreAct Software Toolkit allows Associate System technology to be embedded in applications. PreAct’s software components furnish the knowledge structures (plan-goal graphs, concept graphs and scripts) and the cognitive engines necessary for constructing intelligent systems.

Using these components, developers are able to create highly scalable solutions that can be easily modified as your needs change by changing the knowledge bases – not the underlying architecture.
