ASI 's AEA Award Winning Team

ASI personnel spent numerous personal hours supporting Roswell High School's Robotics Team entry in the FIRST Robotics Competition.  Their outsanding support of this program resulted in ASI being nominated for and winning the AEA "Leadership in Education by a Technology Organization Award" in September 2006.

FIRST Robotics Competition
The FIRST Robotics Competition is an exciting, multinational competition that teams professionals and young people to solve an engineering design problem in an intense and competitive way. The program is a life-changing, career-molding experience – and a lot of fun. The competition reaches more than 28,000 high-school-aged young people on approximately 1,125 teams in 33 regional events. Teams come from Brazil, Canada, Ecuador, Israel, Mexico, the U.K., and almost every U.S. state. The competitions are high-tech spectator sporting events, the result of much-focused brainstorming, real-world teamwork, dedicated mentoring, project timelines and deadlines.

ASI participates in the FIRST movement as a sponsor of the local Roswell High School competitive team.

CHIMERA – Roswell High School Robotics Club
ASI is a proud sponsor of the Roswell High School Robotics Club, the oldest continually operating FIRST team in Georgia. In its rookie year, the club won the Rookie All-Star Award at the National Competition in Orlando, Florida. The next year the club won the Entrepreneurship Award and the Judges Award at the Peachtree Regional in Duluth, Georgia. In 2005 they were a Peachtree Regional Finalist, and winners of the Radio Shack Innovation in Control Award.

Former members of the club presently attend Georgia Tech and other top engineering schools, and present members plan to become engineers.

American Electronics Association (AeA)
ASI is an active member of the nation’s largest high-tech trade association, the AeA. Our president, Dr. Norm Geddes, was appointed to the Executive Board of the association’s Southeast Region in 2006. The AeA, formerly known as the American Electronics Association, represents all segments of the electronics industry and serves electronics companies and software companies through 18 regional offices throughout the country. The association has a very strong presence on Capitol Hill. As a member of the AeA Board, Dr. Geddes works diligently with the AeA to raise awareness and foster solutions to improve interest in a science and engineering education, which is a serious concern for global competitiveness.
