How does intelligence play a part with autonomy?
Perhaps the first experience that we had with autonomy was the battery operated toy car that bumped and moved around the kitchen floor.
Lights flashing, horns blaring, and wheels quickly turning, it made its way around the floor by bumping and sensing an obstacle, then moving around the obstacle. Far from being an intelligent vehicle, the car was quite effective at moving around without getting caught in any corner. Fast forward many years and today we have Unmanned Systems which are basically remote controlled vehicles that use the intelligence of the human at the end of the joystick to complete complex missions. As effective as these systems have been in the recent past, the Military is quickly realizing that it is necessary to scale the capabilities of the Warfighter. This can only be done through onboard intelligence which works side by side with autonomy. Watch the video below for a brief explanation of how intelligence works hand in hand with autonomy to complete complex missions while scaling Warfighter capabilities.
