PreAct Symbolic Knowledge-Base PreAct's knowledge-base consists primarily of two mutually dependent graph structures: the Plan-Goal graph (PGG) and the Concept-Node graph (CNG). The PGG represents knowledge about "why" and "how-to," interleaving PreAct's goals with the plans and scripts available for achieving the goals. The CNG represents general and situational knowledge about the current world-state ("who," "what," "when," and "how-much"), and links for the relationships among concepts represented. ASI's Integrated Knowledge Environment (IKE) is our tool for designing and developing the knowledge bases used by Pre-Act®. IKE has a GUI interface for dragging and dropping knowledge constructs from a palette to a canvas, where concepts or plans and goals can be linked up and specialized with domain-specific knowledge. The graphs are then saved in files for Pre-Act® to read and interpret at runtime. |
