Software/knowledge engineers

Because of our work in artificial intelligence, we need employees who can work as both software engineers and knowledge engineers.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or related discipline
Experience in software development or other applicable technical fields

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Good written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to write technical documents
Knowledgeable in most or all of C++ or Java; Linux or Windows; and Scripting (Bash, PERL)
Knowledgeable in embedded systems, enterprise computing, command and control or man-machine interfaces

Project managers

We are always looking for qualified Project Managers who have previous experience in managing contractual software development projects.  Ideal candidates have experience in managing government software projects with tight deadlines and developing project plans, including the time line and sequencing of activities required to achieve on-time project results that meet or exceed customer requirements. 

Education and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree
Experience in applicable technical fields

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Relevant experience in defense systems acquisitions, concept development, prototyping, technical requirements, proposal requests and source selections, which require coordination with customers and risk management
Ability to read and understand financial reports and contract documents and create work plans based upon the same
Strong goal-setting, follow-up and achievement skills

System engineers

We are always looking for qualified candidates who have experience in systems engineering, software architecting and CMMI.  Ideal candidates will also have experience with process modeling as well as model-driven or architecture-driven systems engineering in the aeronautics industry.  Ideal candidates will also have strong technical writing experience and project management experience in projects which include both software and hardware elements as a total solution.

Senior engineer i - jr10-008ms

ASI is currently seeking a full time, permanent mid-level/senior engineer to work on one of our large Department of Defense contracts.  The ideal candidate will have experience and/or coursework in Artificial Intelligence.  Because we are a small company, you will have the opportunity to work on software projects, as well as participate in business development activities such as technical input for proposals and sitting in business development meetings to provide technical support to our sales team.  Due to the nature of our work with the US Government, all employees and candidates must be US Citizens and capable of obtaining a security clearance from the US Department of Defense.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Ability to mentor to junior engineers 
Implements software and knowledge bases
Participates in large scale designs and develops small designs 
Assists the team with technical documentation.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline
4-5 years of experience in software development or other applicable technical fields
Or equivalent skill, knowledge and experience

Senior engineer II - jr10-012

ASI is seeking a senior software engineer who has experience as a lead developer for user interfaces.  The ideal candidate will have experience in graphics for Military Planning Systems.  This person will also be the lead developer for a small team developing graphics for intelligent command and control operations.

Due to the nature of our work with the US Government, all candidates must be US Citizens capable of obtaining a security clearance from the US Department of Defense.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Tests software and knowledge bases
System development in a 2-5 person project
Subsystem development in a larger system and potential supervision of their implementation
Creates content for internet web pages and internal technical seminars
Produces conference papers, patents and trade secrets
Participates in organization and effective discussions providing feedback to the ideas of others
May be technical lead for 2-5 person projects
May write proposals for SBIR Phase I
May assist Sales and Marketing with demonstrations of product capabilities

Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or related discipline
8 or more years or experience in software development or other applicable technical fields

Leads technical discussions and provides clear technical leadership within company

Project Manager - jr10-013

ASI is seeking a Project Manager to lead one of our aviation projects.  The ideal candidate will have experience or be familiar with government reporting requirements and government contracts, in addition to having aviation technology and software engineering experience.  The incumbent is responsible for developing the project plan, including the time line and sequencing of activities required to achieve on-time project results that meet or exceed customer requirements.  They are also responsible for developing and managing the project budget and are accountable for overall project success to support the major government prime contractor.  This position involves complex problem solving in high degrees of uncertainty.  The need to accuracy and effective problem solving is high.  Errors in judgment may cause delays and adversely impact project and program outcomes.

Due to the nature of our work with the US Government, all candidates must be US Citizens and capable of obtaining a security clearance from the US Department of Defense. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develops the project plan in order to achieve on-time project results
Anticipates obstacles and stays on plan
Provides directions that keeps the project successful
Develops and manages the project budget
Interfaces directly with the customer to develop new business opportunities
Participates in the selection of project personnel
Coordinates with the technical staff
Responsible for day to day supervision of project personnel
Completes performance reviews and career assessments
Responsible for professional development and career progress of assigned personnel

Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Participates in strategic planning for the Company
May write proposals for SBIR Phase I or Phase II
Will perform account management with prime contractor to maintain and enhance business opportunities

Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in technical discipline preferably in Aviation Software Development
11 or more years of experience in applicable technical fields
Masters degree with 8 or more years of experience
